Faceted (coldworked) Beads
In 2003 I became fascinated with the aspect of faceting glass when I saw the incredible work of KB Glassworks. The process starts with building the bead in the torch - layer upon layer - trying to think backwards as to which layer will appear as the top layers are ground down and the remaining ones polished. I build the bead and after it has been properly annealed in the kiln, either Len (he has quite a touch!) or I take it through the next 5 or 6 steps of cutting, grinding and polishing.
These little treasures cost a little more but they each evoke an earthy, organic, stone-like quality and energy. I hope you enjoy them as much as we enjoy creating them!
