Rainbow Gems
I finally decided to make these into their own separate category because I just love making them! I've been using this technique in some of the Big Hole Beads and thought it would also be nice to make some smaller roundish ones that might be great in a necklace or a chunky bracelet. So here they are! I am calling them Rainbow Gems first because there ends up being so many different colors in each one - sometimes too many to try and describe! I add plunged dots randomly all over the bead which when capped off with a dollop of crystal clear captures a bubble and add lots of depth to that spot. And secondly, I used the word "gem" to try and describe the hand shaping I do on each one. I use a brass paddle to flatten small areas to resemble a facet you might see on a gemstone. All the different angles help give the bead extra sparkle! I hope you like them. It is so hard to capture their true beauty in the photos but I do believe you won't be disappointed!
The smaller Rainbow Gems are made on my regular size 3/32" mandrel.
